High dynamic range (HDR) photograph of the beam shaping optics at the GINIX instrument at PETRA Ⅲ's P10 beamline. Different apertures can be moved very close to the sample to cleanup the x-ray beam used for high-resolution microscopy. The apertures can be positioned and scanned in all spatial directions.
The sample itself can be moved step-wise and scanned continuously, and also rotated for tomographic imaging. Two optical in-line microscopes serve a view for alignment and specimen inspection during set-up and while the x-ray experiment is going on.
More information about the GINI-X instrument can be found on the DESY Photon Science website.
